  2. I'm so happy, to have the anneau infinity ring in bordeaux on my own! I love him and since he arrived I've had much fun with him! And now I see in the last picture with you, he is the cherry on the top ;-)) Thank you for the new post, it's so wonderful, here in MaiTai's Salon!!!! Enjoy the week ahead, Claudia
@Jerrine: You are so sweet! I've no problem learning new things, but my great problem is keeping in mind (especially since getting noticeable older...) please don't tell my boss... Best, Claudia

  3. The combo with Mythique Phoenix looks unbelievably classy and sophisticated to me. I adore it very much. The cardigan and clic-clac make it fabulous.
Atop of it, THE scarf ring played the huge role.
An interesting lesson how to produce a huge impact by the capsule piece approach, thanks a lot!
Is Marius a hidden gem or visible to the visitors?

  4. That cheeky parrot has nothing on you, MT - your plumage is every bit as beautiful. I like your Melange theme and the included outfits.

I love the khaki and navy combination, but I have to admit that my favorite is the last one. The new bordeaux cardigan and white silk shirt look perfect with Mythique Phoenix and the new lacquer Anneau.

    Marius, eat your heart out!

    1. Don't you just love these looks,Jerrine? The bordeaux is my fav, I think! The MP has never looked so good as with the addition of this colorful Anneau! Now, I just may have to hunt down this scarf...yikes! These scarf rings are getting more expensive by the post;-)
Fellow Salon members/addicts...it looks as if, no matter the language, we are all trying to say the same;-) Simpatico!

    2. Yes, I do, Trudye. In fact, I am so fond of the burgundy cardigan that I went looking for it online yesterday. Nothing like blatant copying!

I hate to taunt you, but I do have that MP. It's become one of my favorites, and the funny thing is that initially it didn't appeal to me at all. Do look for it, though, as it's worth the effort. There's got to be one out there somewhere with your name on it.

      Hugs back,

    3. No taunt taken, Jerrine! So very happy you were able to snag the MP and that you love it! I did get the anneau bordeaux ring. Perhaps we can work out a timeshare;-)

As for the long legs...I think we have both done a web search for them and come up empty handed:-( So, I am off to ramp up my Pilates leg exercises...

  6. Dearest Mai Tai, I must say that I now read your posts with a credit card at the ready!! Your impossibly chic taste always has me saying..." I want that!" Speaking of which, that sweater from American Vintage. How is it that a company with that name has no AMERICAN online shopping. Phooey. I will find a way to own that sweater! It's a colour that would complement so many of my scarves. Boo hoo.
Then after that, I want to buy a body like yours. Dialing my surgeon as we speak....

    2. We were probably on line searching for that cardigan at the same time, haverfordgal (and Trudye, too), and I thought the same thing. For heaven's sake, the company's name is AMERICAN Vintage. That alone ought to require them to have at least an online presence here in . . . America.

And, I can only dream of having that body. Heck, I'd settle for just the mile-long legs!

  7. I only wish I'd found this "salon" years ago! There are so many scarves I've missed and I see that the Mythique Phoenix is one of them. I've been trying to build a scarf wardrobe and have been looking for a black/gray workhorse scarf that will go with everything and can't find anything to compare with the MP :( Does anyone have any suggestions? It's hard to tell on the new Hermes website how a scarf looks folded...
The Photo Finish is one of the most versatile scarves I've ever seen and the new scarf ring adds a beautiful new dimension. So glad it is still available because it is now one of my favorites! Thank you Mai Tai for an inspirational post...

    1. Dear Annie, I am writing this as a "fellow addict" (of course) and as a person who missed Mythique Phoenix too (I put myself on ban back then, gosh!).
It might (might, but not must) be still around, as it is a very recent colourway of that design (please, see MT's posts back - it is featured here on the blog, too).
However, I believe it is one of the bestsellers, so I do not know whether it might be still found.

Ring your Hermes SA and hope for the best.
      I will do the same.
Hm, I hope we are not both in Europe (namely, I am and then my chances would be reduced by 50% :)))
However, even if so - I am glad to share the info with the fellow addict.
Be persistent - wish you the best of luck! And don't forget the scarf ring - in my opinion, it made the final magic in this combo.

    2. Thanks; I didn't realize that the Hermes stores might have different stock than what's shown on the website. I'll call today! (United States- no competition with anyone in Europe, ha,ha.) Between the scarves and all of Mai Tai's wonderful accessories, I'm in heaven but my wallet isn't! But what better addiction? Scarves don't care if you gain or lose a few pounds and they certainly brighten my day! I do love the way Mai Tai's new bordeaux scarf ring complements the new sweater - the bordeaux with the gray and cream colors is divine!

      Delete
    3. Dear Annie, just to let you know - there are many differences between each single store and website, therefore I use the "magic SA system" (like most H addicts, I guess): I ring my closest SA and tell her/him the scarf colourway code, in order to look for it for me. Then, the scarf is transported to that shop and you should go there and buy it. It is how I bought most of my scarves. Some SAs even sent it to my home address (card payment). Good you are not in Europe, ha, ha :))).
True for scarves and MT accessories, same for this site - oasis of beauty worth each cent you spend!
      Good luck to you. Lea

    4. Thanks but it looks like I am out of luck with the scarf. Called the Hermes store in Chicago and the guy there started laughing when I asked him about the MP - he said it was one of their most popular scarves ever and there are no more available :((
I'm more in awe of Mai Tai than ever. It's amazing how she has made such thoughtful choices that prove to be so universally loved. Any the new scarf rings are next on my list :))

    6. It sounds like many of you lovelies are in the same age range as I am - all my beautiful high heels are sitting in the closet, probably never to be worn again...sigh. It's just too risky to be teetering on them. The kitten heels sound like a perfect alternative! And I never liked being over six feet tall in heels anyway (I'm 5 foot 9!). Money spent on heels can now be redirected to scarves and all of Mai Tai's fab accessories :)) BTW, the Tous les Bateaux border looks absolutely beautiful with MT's black fur collar - what a great combo!!

    8. Trudye, if you're wanting a pair of Roger Vivier's, do as I did. Go to www.theluxer.com. They have all the styles, both flats and pumps, and they are truly a lovely company to deal with.

I wanted a pair Belle de Nuit pumps but wasn't sure of the size (come to find out, this style runs very true to size), so a very nice customer service person suggested that I order two sizes and return the pair that didn't fit.

Shipping (including return shipping was free); there was no sales tax, and they arrived, beautifully packaged in a matter of days. I kept the pair that fit and easily returned the pair that didn't.

I wore them to the Hermès Atlanta store opening party, and even though I was on my feet for several hours on concrete, no less, they were very comfortable, and I felt very chic- even after my friend dropped a shrimp on the toe of one of them:-)!

The drawback is now I want more, and I know where to get them!

A good weekend to you. It's just beautiful here for a change,

    14. Trudye, I agree, all this enabling is getting very expensive! I don't know how I stumbled on theluxer.com site, but I was VERY determined, as there is just one store in Atlanta that carries RV's, and all they had to offer was the pointy toe style, and I refuse to go there! No more stuffing the poor toes into points for me.

The Belle de Nuit's fit true to size, but I think the fit varies a bit by style. I know that MT has reported that fact in the past, but this site is so agreeable, and the person I dealt with says that her customers order various sizes quite often. They were very happy to ship two sizes, knowing that one would be returned.

That silly shrimp ended up falling right in the center of the buckle and looked like an extra ornament. My friend was horrified, but no harm done. I simply removed the offending crustacean and wiped off the spot with one of Hermès lovely linen cocktail napkins.

Polar Vortex? Uh oh, I guess I'd better enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.

      Happy weekend,
      Jerrine

    19. Oh, darn, Trudye. I'm sorry. And here I thought my size 8 feet were the most common.

All of these sites have to re-stock, so it might be a good idea to give the customer service people at theluxer.com a call and see if they could wait list you for a pair (good grief, RV is almost as bad as Hermès!)

I did have a friend who ordered a pair from the New York RV store, and she said that they were happy to send her two different sizes and accept the return of the pair that didn't fit.

I've been "Zen-ing" out the wardrobe, too, but I actually did need a pair of black heels. I didn't necessarily need a pair of black RV heels, but what the heck I'm glad that they're in my closet, and I don't think they'll ever leave!

Annie, it is the same CW as mine, and the border is a very dark green indeed. I never think of it as green though, as it wears like black. The reference is Vert/Anthrazite/Vanille/Aubergine, and the code CW11.

    7. Thank you; I am learning so much thanks to all of you! But how do you know that the scarf is real and not fake? I've never ordered anything on ebay.

      Delete
    8. Annie, I've bought dozens of H. scarves on eBay, both on the US and the French site over the past fifteen years. Sometimes it's the only place to find some of the lovely vintage designs. I'm happy to say that I've never received a fake.

It doesn't hurt to be cautious, though. Always check the seller's feedback record and check to see that they have a track record selling Hermès items. Your purchase is always protected by eBay and PayPal, as well. And, if you have any doubt, contact the seller and ask for detailed pictures of the copyright symbol, the artist's signature, the care tag, and ask for a guarantee of authenticity. A reputable seller will not be offended with questions such as these, and if they are, you don't want to deal with them.

EBay has really cracked down on fraudulent sellers, as Hermès sued them and won. H. has its own personnel reviewing the listings, and if they feel something isn't right, eBay pulls the item's listing, no question asked.

I don't think the Mythiques has been out long enough to be faked either. I think you could feel secure in purchasing it on eBay from a reputable seller.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have additional questions,
      Jerrine

Have a look at the Kerry Taylor auction catalogue for December. You'll find some lovely H things there too...and LDN's not as far away as LA.

Poor beautiful bird. Such a shame he doesn't fly free!

    3. So glad you got the reply! I can understand that it means a lot to you, it does to me too... birds in cages make me sad.

  18. I was so inspired by your photos and especially by Marius that I phoned my Hermes shop to ask if they have 'Photofinish' in those colourways in stock. They checked and called me back saying that they do have two in different colours but that there are problems with them and they are on their way back to Paris!!! I have always assumed that Hermes scarves quality control is very strict . . . obviously I was wrong! :-( Emily

    1. Emily - the colorway you want is available on the U. S. Hermes website - MT has shown how beautifully this scarf works and how versatile it is - I wouldn't have looked twice if not for her blog but I'm so glad I ordered it because I love it! Good luck!

    2. Annie, unfortunately they don't ship outside the US. In any case, I am doubting their QC now! Emily

    3. Oh Emily, I'm sure Marius would be very excited about your comment, he loves nothing more than attention! It's a shame that the two scarves went back to Paris, but much better that they were checked and held back by the SAs than not. The scarf is still around, and I hope you'll be lucky after all!

Annie, so nice to be PF twins with you!
