A tranquil courtyard in the 1er arrondissement

Leaving the Village Royal and stepping out onto the Rue Royale, walking a few meters south to the crossroad where the rue Saint-Honoré becomes rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Casting another quick glace at FSH, but resisting the tempatation to go to Ladurée..

Heading east towards the Place Vendôme, continuing my stroll on the busy Rue St-Honoré shopping street. Just before reaching the Place Vendôme you'll see the Hôtel Costes, where I was to rejoin with DH and DS (who have been climbing the Eiffel tower in the meantime). The outside decor with it's black windows and blinds does not betray the oasis that lies within...

Once you cross the dark and theatrical lobby with it's opulent decor of gold and velvet, you see calm and cool hallways, surrounding a beautiful and tranquil italian style courtyard..

.. where comfortable chairs are grouped by the open french doors.

It is such a lovely place to come for afternoon drinks or tea, the peace and quiet is a true haven after a busy day walking around Paris.

Hôtel Costes, 239 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, Tel. +33.1.42.44.50.00
