Summer!

We're already on our way to our summer holiday, but didn't want to leave before wishing everyone a happy and beautiful summer. Hope you enjoy the images I've gathered over the last couple of weeks, mixed with some previous warm weather scarf knot ideas.

La Fontaine de la Rotonde in Aix-en-Provence

When the weather becomes too hot to wear scarves around the neck, a scarf belt is always a great alternative (Here with a 'La Marche de Zambèze' 90 scarf). Other accessories: Hermes Picotin 18 in Bleu Sapphire.

The Collier knot is a fabulous way to wear your scarf 'around the neck' when the temperatures reach summer highs.. the scarf rests on your clothing and barely touches your skin

Garden and village street light

On a hot summer's day, what could be better than a Pierre Hermé Ispahan macaron? A Pierre Hermé Ispahan sorbet, of course!

Love wearing black in summer too, and sunflower yellow gives it a bright and sunny touch. The Drape knot is another great option for warm weather (pic from a few years back)

Same combination, but with a fresh extra touch in the form of my new Origami bag charm from LuxeLeatherCrafts

Good-bye atelier window.. I won't be looking out of you for a while!

Wishing everyone the most beautiful, safe and blissful summer.. and looking forward to seeing you again in mid-August.

  1. Dearest Mai Tai,

Love the colours in your post and your yellow tunic.
Thanks for reminding us of the "summer" knots which I think will be very useful to me as the temperatures are higher in the South.
Have a wonderful holiday and safe travels, my Dear.
    Big hugs, Manuela xx

  2. Have a fabulous and safe holiday. Can't wait to order the pj's! Thank-you again (will never stop saying thank-you!) for your amazing blog. It is definitely the highlight of my Inbox and I have introduced many people to you. Lots of love from a wintery Cape Town.

  3. Love the black and golden yellow together. Have a wonderful, rejuvenating vacay, dear MaiTai! To all the lovely swans whose feathers are wilting in sweltering heat, I wish you cool breezes (or good air conditioning)!
    Much aloha,
    Fifi

  4. :-) Oh, aren't I lucky that all my things arrived just in time before you left?
Have a wonderful summer holiday, dear MaiTai.
Will be glad to "read you" in August again xo :-)

  5. Wow, I could dive right into a vat of that Ispahan sorbet (Rita will join me) and then roll around in a bushel of those gorgeous roses.

I have such mixed feelings about summer. As a kid, I loved it - no school and absolute freedom for two months. Now, I feel as if I'm condemned to purgatory. It will be 100 here over the weekend with the heat index at 108. We have some strange dome of HOT weather hovering over the South. Goody!

    Bring on the Ispahan,
    Jerrine

PS - MT, have a wonderful vacation and thank you for these images of a pretty summer. I won't share mine. Sweat is not pretty!

    1. You described the summer conundrum just perfectly, dear Jerrine! I heard about the heat dome and the weather shamans said it would be covering the entire country (fervently hoping they're wrong, I don't even like temps in the 80s). Stay cool any way you can (although the sorbet might feel good at first, it will dry down very sticky)!
      Air kisses,
      Fifi

    2. I think you heard right, Fifi. That heat dome is going to melt us all. I just hope you can avoid it, especially if you think 80 is hot. I would give just about anything for 80 degrees at this point.

I open my scarf drawer and just wave at the beauties. There is no way they're coming out until late September at the earliest. So sad!

However, I am re-thinking the Ispahan bath based on your advice. I will simply eat as much as I possibly can and cool down from the inside out. Can you imagine being hot and sticky with ants crawling all over you and flies buzzing overhead?

      Let autumn come quickly,
      Jerrine

  8. I plan to use my summer wisely--seeking counsel from my friends while our fearless leader is on holiday! I

t's as hot as a firecracker here in the Deep South, so looking at pajamas with long legs and long sleeves is almost frightening, but I'm holding out hope that the heat won't last forever!

So, in preparation for temps below 80 degrees, will someone who owns the pajamas please tell me how wonderful they are?!

    Thanks, Swan Friends--
    Greta

    1. I wish I could help you out, Greta, but anything with long sleeves is a sworn enemy at this point!

They are beautiful, though, aren't they, and I love the kimono robe to go over them . . . say in November?

Here's for getting out of the South for a while,
      Jerrine

    2. That robe! It's just too much for my heart!

But with these temps, I just can't even think about a robe until November--at least!

    1. Manuela,

Tell me how wonderful those jammies are! Are they true to size? Soft? A guarantee to a good night's sleep?

      Thank you!

    3. Dear Greta, not beeing Manuela, but owning the best, nicest pyjama ever, I will try to answer your question. I took the pyjama in rose and I have to confirm that he is perfect! The fabric is firm and the manufacture is best. The size is exactly as MaiTai described. I'm really glad to have such a treasure and I will never deliever it!!! Unfortunately the weather here in germany is too hot for wearing wardrobe at all - but I'm looking forward for autumn ;-)) In my last comment I informed you swans that I would be prepared for our pyjama-party... now tell me where it starts ;-))
I hope, Greta, my information was helpful...
All the best from hot germany, Claudia

    4. Dear Claudia--

Thank you for your most helpful review! I'm especially glad to hear about the sizing--because I want to be able to wear these forever! And I'm so glad you like the rose pajamas, because those are the ones I want!

Yes, it is too hot here in Alabama to wear most anything--just like in Germany, but we have to hope that cooler weather is in the future.

Swans, when exactly is the pajama party? If someone will set a date, I will arrange for the macarons!

Claudia, thank you again for your kind reply!

      Greta

    5. Greta & Claudia, that date must be determined by the Swans who already own the luscious pj's or are placing their order momentarily.

And, Claudia, since it will be cooler sooner in Germany vs. Alabama (trust me; I know these things), I think we should have it at your house :-)

So, we'll wait to hear from the two of you regarding the date, correct?

      Looking forward to it,
      Jerrine

PS - I guess if I want an invitation, and I certainly do, I need to get busy and order the pajamas.

    6. Greta,
size is quiet large and comfy, we will be able to eat all macarons we wish! And as Claudia said it is a beautiful pyjama, I'm planning long sunday breakfast time.... Ready for the pink party, let's do it in Iceland!
Have a nice and relaxing summertime ladies,
      Catherine.

    7. Haha, Iceland is a great idea! Otherwise I would prefer MaiTai's wine cellar expecting there will be no danger of drying up ;-)
Let me tell you, that I was falling in love with the rose pj at first glance and had to order immediately, being afraid to come too late, otherwise.
The colour and pattern of the rose is really pretty and wearing it, feels a bit like being a princess, or better: MaiTai's sister!!!
I hope, my pyjama-story was not boring for you!
(but better thinking of pyjamas than of the increasing terrorism all around)
Please, Greta and Jerrine let us know, when you will join the pj-club!
...OMG, another two weeks without our leader...
      Best wishes Claudia

    8. Well, Claudia, while I'm not really a pajama person, I want to be a princess and most definitely want to be MT's sister.

Guess I'd better get ordering fast.

Catherine, what a splendid idea to host the party in Iceland. We just might be able to wear the matching robes, as well. I'll bring pink bunny slippers for all.

How is my little darling robo cat? We must have another picture soon.

      Cool breezes to all,
      Jerrine

    9. Dear Greta,

So sorry for my late reply. I am on holidays now and haven't checked the blog for a while. I have the pijamas in blue and love it. it is generous in size and warm. Perfect to cold winter days. Hope this helps. Have a lovely remaining week. Hugs, Manuela

    11. You all are so perfectly fabulous! With your good counsel, I'm ready to order my PJs as soon as our fearless and fashionable leader returns.

As I am longing for cooler weather, hosting the pajama party in Iceland, or in MT's wine cellar, sounds cool and luxurious.

Jerrine, if you provide bunny slippers for all the swans, I will make my famous lemon squares. If I may say so myself, they are so delicious, they make grown men weep.

Claudia, I'm in agreement--we should concentrate more on luxury pajamas than terrorism. The world will be a happier place!

Manuela, many thanks for your response! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday!

We may be on line for quite a while, so perhaps you can provide some of those yummy lemon squares to keep us going. ~ I've been following your beautiful holiday on IG, dear Manuela! Porto is a gorgeous place. Happy week to all you dear Swans!
