Capsule wardrobe #137 - Fantaisies Indiennes Mousseline GM

Inspired by the 'you might also like' thumbnails of the previous post, I took my  'Fantaisies Indiennes' mousseline GM out to play today. I tried some of the length reducing knots for the Maxi Twillys, and found some of them work perfectly with GM mousses too.

Capsule wardrobe pieces: black trousers and top (Alternative: beige trousers and chocolate top)
Accessories: Hermès 'Fantaisies Indiennes' Mousseline GM and Clic-H enamel bracelet in black
Shoes: sunshine yellow patent leather flats
Scarf tying method: fold your scarf into a rectangular stole and pull both ends through a scarf ring in the horizontal basic slide

These earrings were a lucky find on my last trip to Paris. When I saw them in the window of a tiny boutique in the Rue Saint-Honoré (Philippe Ferrandis) I was unable to resist!

A similar effect as above can also be achieved with a criss-cross knot or with a slip knot (right)

A few  more variations:

Left: horizontal slide with the scarf wrapped once around the neck beforehand
Center: Twist wrap
Right: Slip knot with the scarf wrapped once around the neck beforehand

'Fantaisies Indiennes' GM mousse' and Picotin 22/MM in sanguine

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend xx

    1. By the way, I read somewhere that Marie-Antoinette used to call her first born daughter Marie-Thérèse "Mousseline". Precious and delicate.

  2. Just recently discovered and love your blog! I admire your amazing style and elegance and draw much inspiration from your wardrobes. Hope this isn't too personal but how do you stay so slim? I have a hard time with those pesky five pounds that want to hang on in my fifties.

    1. A warm welcome to my blog, dear Teresa! Thanks so much for the kind words. Re your question, it's relatively simple...if I eat more than I burn, I pull back again. And yes you are right, it seems to take a bit more effort past fifty!

    2. If you pull back, don't you get hungry? I guess hunger is part and parcel to looking great!

  4. These vibrant colours look stunning on you, Dearest MT, and I have earring envy :} The mousselines are the natural choice for the very humid summers that we have here on the east coast. I tend to think of the shears as a more formal scarf, but you zhuzhed it up as a casual look, and have given me a new outlook for styling with them!
As ever...my heart skips a beat when I see a new post from you because I know how brilliant it will be!

  9. Oh, how I love and want those earrings! They look like summer in the south of France! And, they're perfect with your coloring and the mousseline. I'll definitely look up that boutique the next time I get to Paris.

I love the way that you've managed to give the moussie a tailored look. Such a clever girl.

  11. Dear MaiTai, after coming home from my summer holidays I was very delighted to see your last posts. I had no internet in my holidays and the only contact I really missed was - to you and your picturebook! I love the inspiration you gives us with the GM mousse, because a few weeks ago I bought a scarf from "Roeckl", which is a german business concern, also making silk scarves. My scarf is a GM mousse as well, and I was unsure how to wear it in the summer. Now I know! ;-))
Thank you for the beautiful, inspiring pictures! Best wishes Claudia

I always take a deep breath and pause in admiration for the indescribable beauty you bring us. Your new earrings are such happy, precious jewels - they look just divine on you! And as always, blue and orange is one of my favorite passionate summer combinations - love the horizontal fold together with your gorgeous shawl ring. Much love and sending you big summer hugs xxx
