Paris week, part eleven - La Cigale Récamier

The 'La Cigale Récamier' restaurant is not only a soufflé lover's paradise, but because of it's great location, it is also a perfect spot for lunch on a day of Rive Gauche shopping and exploring. It nestles in a small pedestrian alley off the Rue de Sevrès, right opposite Hermès' left bank boutique, and a stone's throw from the Bon Marché department store. The atmosphere and interior design is cosy and modern, and in summer a terrace on the quiet alleyway invites alfresco dining.

The menu offers savory and sweet soufflés (which come in two sizes),
as well as traditional starters, mains and desserts

The chocolate soufflé was clearly the star

  2. Sound sounds like a perfect day. Hermes, soufflé and in my humble opinion the nicest department store in the world! I can't believe there are more lovely photos arriving every day, you have been very busy!

I have tried another soufflé restaurant in Paris which I highly recommend. It is called Le Souflé and it is situated very close to Rue Cambon and to Place de la Concorde. The address is as follows:

  7. Dear Maitai

I was flicking through your archives and realised I went to this place for lunch with my sister about 3 weeks ago! We loved the location and I had a soufflé for pudding which I loved! The people watching was excellent- 3 generations of families, excellent accessories, superior hair, high end bags....it was my favourite place I ate during my entire trip because it was such a happy day. We did go to Hermes after and I bought one of those scarves with the people in the sporty outfits on it and another as a gift (rue 24 something? with the scarf rings?) and we also swung by Bon Marche.

    Have a lovely weekend.x
