Capsule wardorbe #109 - Autumn

October is slowly fulfilling its promises, it is beginning to turn foliage into beautiful reds, yellows and browns, and casts a golden glowing light on those which are still green.

It has also brought temperatures down enough so that finally sweaters have become a wardrobe staple again, and the first one I pulled out, is my 10 EUR market find from last year, which (amazingly) still looks like new.

Capsule pieces: blue jeans and grey sweater
Shoes: bi-coloured ballet flats
Accessories: Hermès 'Photo Finish' 90 Carré, clic-H bracelet in marron glacé and Picotin in etoupe.

In the mornings and evenings, an additional layer of clothing is needed for warmth. Because of the variety in the scarf's CW, so many colours are possible... blue, brown, khaki, mustard blazers, cardies or jackets, everything would work beautifully. I very much liked teaming it with a Mocca leather jacket, but it seemed a little bit too heavy for the moment, so I decided on a navy blazer in the end.

  1. This scarf is beautiful and you look perfect for the transition from summer into fall. We've had glorious fall weather here and I am enjoying and "collecting" the rays of sun for energy in the winter months. The picotin with the marron glace ClicClac is gorgeous.

  5. Beautiful Autumn inspiration! The weather here in Philadelphia is also crisp, and I love it! Today I'm heading to Peddler's Village, where they hold an annual scare crow contest. There will be mulled cider and wine, an water mill, and the most beautiful foliage. I'm going to replicate your style for today's outing!
I must ask, who designed those gorgeous ballet flats? ( I hope that they're available here?)
    Enjoy your week!

    1. Oh I love country fairs, and can just imagine how much fun Peddler’s Village must have been! The ballet flats are from a small boutique in 80, Rue du Bac (Paris, 6th) called Kevin Dorfer. Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. Oh, dear MaiTai! So inspirational post, particularly after I watched the movie "A good year" yesterday where Russel Crowe decided to replace his working place in a busy stock exchange with a wineyard in Provence. My thoughts were all the time with you and then I saw your post which perfectly fits into my "Provencal" mood.
Then I started my search for Provencal garlic (some thousands sorts of it :).
You look gorgeous in your outfit, so perfectly composed into the richness of the nature surrounding you.
    Hugs, Lea

  9. Hello, dear scarf twin! So nice to see 'Photo Finish' once again. I also bought it in the gray and blue colorway, for the purpose of wearing it with gray. The point might be moot as I think the taupe cw looks nice with gray as well. The gray cw might go back, as the tags are still on it, and the mint color in the scarf has me on the fence.

DH and I will be heading to H in Kopenhagen / Copenhagen today in search of the elusive maxi twilly.

    Warm orange hugs, dear.

  14. Love your selection, today. I was just in Hermes, Paris on St, Honore. Plisse scarves are not made anymore, but I purchased a gorgeous gold silk with tiny perforations. It is edged in black. Have you seen it? Love it!
I was hoping to find you scarf rings there, but you must sell them privately.

  15. I love wearing scarves, but I store them by folding them into squares and when I take them out for wearing, no matter how carefully they have been placed, they aren't completely smooth and I have to have them ironed before wearing. Do you have a better system so that when you take your scarves out from your closet, they are ready to wear?

    1. My scarves usually don’t wrinkle that much, I tend to wear them again and again without the need of ironing or washing in between. Instead of knotting, I tie them with scarf rings though, which reduces creasing. After wearing, I fold them along their natural folds into a rectangle, and leave them hanging over the back of a chair overnight. This usually does the trick. If there is still some slight creasing in the center, I does not worry me too much as long as the the parts which show are smooth and lovely. Hope this helps :-)

  16. Love the look of your Photo Finish. You have done a lovely job of adapting the CW to early Fall. In the short time I've been reading your blog I've learned so much about the art of dressing! I've enjoyed playing with the wonderful scarf rings you sent me a while ago. Crazy but they work so much better than those I have from Hermes (which tend to be too heavy or just wrong for the job). The horn and wood you offer are CLASSIC and function perfectly! I've just ordered the Shawl ring and look forward to playing with my heavier Wintertime scarfs. I was also motivated to finally purchase your scarf travel pouch which I have been thinking about for much too long. I know I'll love it. Thanks so much for being an endless inspiration and resource.
