Autumn market - Capsule wardrobe #112

As in most parts of France, all villages in our area hold weekly markets with mainly local produce. None of them falls on the same day so that one could buy groceries at the market every day of the week. If we've missed our local on Saturdays, or if it has been raining, we sometimes catch up on the Sunday market in the next village down the road.

It was mild enough to sit outside, and we got some baguette, cheese, salami and olives from the market stalls, and had them with a glass of wine at the café. Everyone else was doing the same thing, and it is such a nice custom in France that café owners welcome their guests to share the market fare at their tables.

Capsule wardrobe pieces: black sweater, grey/brown trousers and fawn coat
Shoes: dark brown cowboy boots
Accessories: Hermès 'Brides de Gala' 90 carré, clic H enamel bangle in marron glacé and ebene Birkin

Savon de Marseille ~ a soap based on olive oil, made in the Marseille area

Monsieur was adamant to be included in the next shot, energetically presenting his breads!

Roasted châtaigne (chestnuts), a symbol of winter and a reminder of the festive season ahead

Plane trees are the last to change colour and shed their leaves.. on a day like this, winter still seems a long way away...

Whole Foods will have to do with it's wine and beer bar;-) Love, love, love your outfit here. The fawn coat and cowboy boots are da bomb, pretty one! Again, thank you for this treat and peak into your everyday life<3 You do relaxed elegance better than ANYONE I have ever seen! Have a super week, T xx

  13. This post sings to me! First, you look tres chic in that gooorgeous coat. I agree that it reminds me of the GD dress from an earlier post. Second, the market images are truly a feast for the eyes..(wishing they could be a feast for the stomach, as well )
The savon Marseilles can be found in abundance in my home, just lovely! I also find that they're fantastic for treating stains on clothes prior to washing.
So...I've created a Google account just for posting here. Formerly Barbara A, but now haverfordgal.
    Have an outstanding week!

  15. I adore this blog, and I found it so accidentally via You Tube! You've opened up a whole new world for me as I can actually wear my beautiful scarves now--you've taught me how. Just this morning, I was juggling my phone and my scarf in front of the mirror so I could follow your instructions! Thank you for your assistance!

  21. There is something about you (or your type) that is eternally youthful because I swear that if some other woman of the same age wears exactly what you wear, the effect would be not be as flattering! :-) Good on you!

  22. Thanks so much for the warm and lovely comments and compliments dear ladies, so happy you enjoyed coming along to our market <3 It's been a very hectic and busy week, so please forgive me for not answering individually. For those who asked about the coat, I bought it last winter in a small boutique in Montpellier. It looks très 'Gerard Darel' to me too, but it does not not have a label (apart from the shop's own label, which is 'Stephan's'). Hope you are having a wonderful rest of the week, and a fabullous weekend ahead xx

  23. I discovered your blog recently and I absolutely adore it: I own some Hermes scarves and now I know how to wear them in different ways! thanks! I will go to Paris over the weekend for my birthday celebrations, I have made some reservations at a couple of restaurants for dinner, but I was wondering if you would have any special suggestion? Merci beacoup!

  24. Have a most wonderful time in Paris, and a fabulous birthday! Not knowing your preferences, which area you are staying or your budget makes it difficult to make a suggestions, but if you could be more specific, I'd be happy to help. It would also be useful if you'd let me know which restaurants you already booked.

  25. We are staying in the Shangri-La in l'Avenue d'Iéna, but we are flexible and like to move around the city. I like classic, simple, traditional frech food, more brasserie style (I am not a big fan of Haute Cuisine) and so far I have booked Benoit and Chez Georges... Thanks a lot!
