Capsule wardrobe #148 - double scarves, double fun

In the winter months, cashmere shawls and scarf fur collars tend to get a lot of outings, but if silk scarves are worn in pairs, they can easily keep your neck warm and protected too.

'Cuirs du Désert' and 'Photo Finish' 90 carrés in the basic bias fold. CdD wound once around the neck, and both secured in a Slip knot with a smooth round ring.

Zebra Pegasus and Mythiques Phoenix, tied as above

Capsule wardrobe pieces: jeans and black turtleneck sweater
Accessories: Hermès 'Zebra Pegasus' and 'Mythiques Phoenix' 90 carrés, Clic H bracelet in black and Birkin 35 in black.
Shoes: Black ankle boots
Scarf tying method: Fold both 90 carrés in the basic bias fold. Mythique Phoenix is wound once around the neck, and both secured in a Slip knot with a smooth round ring.

With 70 carrés: 'C'est la fête' and 'Chaines et Gourmettes' 70 carrés placed around the neck in the basic bias fold, ends secured in the Simple Loop with a smooth round ring.

'C'est la fête' (back) and 'Chaines et Gourmettes' (front)

How-to's and variations next.

Have a great week everyone

  1. I love this idea, it looks great, very luxurious! Also it means I need twice as many scarves. What's that you say Mr B? No more scarves? I wouldn't dream of getting more😋

  3. Oh so clever and chic, MT. Oh, Trudye . . . it's another forage through the scarf drawers to see which scarves we can pair together to cash in on this great idea.

(I'm wondering if I really do have two scarves that won't clash and create utter havoc when combined! Hmmm . . . maybe not, but it will be fun looking.)

Thanks for another great inspiration, MT.

  4. Oh, this such a clever and fun idea!
Yes, Jerrine, now another forage thru the scarves to try to pair! My first thought was the same as yours about pairing, but I think it may be easier than we think! My eye is always drawn to the same color families,so, it should work and we will have fun trying!
Too bad we are all spread out across the world because this would make for a fun party theme...right after we have had the champagne facials;-)

Thanks so much dearest MT for another inspiring post...cost effective, too!
    Happy pairings,
    T xx

    1. Well, at first glance, no stellar possibilities presented themselves, Trudye. I'll have another go when I have more time, though.

Better yet, maybe we can convince MT to fly over for a visit. She could make the rounds of all of our scarf drawers that way. Of course, we'd have to find a time for a get together for that champagne facial party, too - in her honor, of course.

Yes, I wish the world wasn't so vast and that we could all visit one another "in the flesh." Can you just imagine the noise level - ear drum breaking, I'm sure.

A happy Thursday to all the salon swans,
      Jerrine

    2. Trudye,

I want to thank you for your wonderful tip regarding the Laundress products. I purchased several items, including the wool and cashmere wash...they all smell so pretty and fresh. I've already used the cashmere wash and you were so right, my sweater is so clean and soft and smells heavenly. I hope they at least give you free products or a discount! :-). Warmly, Simone

    3. Third time has to be the charm, as this is 3 tries for my reply;-(
Simone, I wish they had a referral program! Alas, they do not. I am more than happy to share the tip here with my sisters of Le Salon! I am so pleased you like the product!

Jerrine, this is proving to be more difficult than I thought! Literally, this task has me 'thinking outside of the box'!!! There should be an app for this;-)
A visit from our guru would definitely improve our practice. The fun we would all have and the mischief made...oh,my!
Creative vibes to all here, T xx

    5. Dear Trudye, I have already found a couple of pairs in similar colours that, I think, go well together: Les Clés and Mors et Gourmettes ( white/ grey/ orange) and Fétes Vénetiennes in ( bordeaux/ vieux rose/ grey). Happy pairing to you and all the ladies! Manuela xx

    6. Dearest Manuela,
Great pairings! I am still at play!
Yes, The Laundress ships international. There is an international shipping link in their shopping cart!
They really should think of hiring me;-)
      Happy pairings, T xx

  5. Great idea MaiTai,

I am always looking for ways to combine my scarfs in the best ways to tie them.

Loving your pairing as we are twins on your MP and ZP scarfs and will give this a try as its so cold here.
Look forward to your next post

  7. Dearest MaiTai, I love this, esp. the last pairing of C'est la fête and Chaines et Gourmettes, but then I'm partial to black/white/gray. My tiny Hermes collection does not mesh well, color-wise -- hmm, what to do about this untenable situation? A new carre' seems absolutely necessary. My refund from the dentist is arriving just in time for this happy task. And it must also coordinate with the plum MaiTai necklace. Because so far dear Jerrine is the only one sporting a gemstone necklace in a MT collage. So by purchasing another scarf, I am "taking one for the team" as it were. No thanks are necessary, I'm happy to make the sacrifice! Dear Trudye, that would be one uber-fun party, complete with champagne earlobe facials! Haverfordgal would have to join us, since she started the whole champagne thing.
    Warm aloha,
    Fifi

    1. Ha, "taking one for the team," Fifi? Now, I've heard all kinds of rationalization methods when it comes to H. scarves, and I've utilized quite a few of them myself, but I think this is a brand new one for the collection.

And, how in heck does one get a refund from one's dentist? Mine wants to squeeze every last penny out of me!

Have fun picking out that new scarf (let us know which one you decide on, since we're part of that team you're talking about. We have a right to know!)

    2. Dear Fifi, I would really love to take part at the secret how to get a refund from the dentist! And I really laughed about the expression "taking one for the team". What a great attitude!!! And, Jerrine, you are absolutely right with your comment, that we have the right to know which scarf Fifi chooses! You two Ladies delighted my day! Thank you <3 Claudia

    3. Darling Fifi,

If you drink enough Champs you can always find an excuse to increase your scarf collection ;) The bubbles aren't making my face any less paralyzed, but they give me the giggles (even if it's only out of the left side of my mouth)

Can't wait to hear about your new silk baby. I also love to wrap the silks around a plain cashmere scarf. It adds a subtle beauty to winter wear. Philadelphia is cccoold so layering is essential!

      Lovely weekend wishes to all!

    4. Dearest Fifi, That is the team spirit! You go girl and be sure to let your teammates here know what you come home with! Seriously, you got a refund from the dentist? Wow! Hope you did not have to give up a tooth or something;-))

Haverfordgal...you keep on sipping the champers...I know it will help, giggles and all!
Love your idea of wrapping the silks around a solid cashmere scarf...so luxurious <3
Warm weekend hugs to all, T xx

    5. I like the idea with silk and cashmere, dear haverfordgal. How do you tie the two scarves together? Warm hugs, Manuela xx

    6. I don't really tie them, I just sort of wind the scarf around the long cashmere scarf and then pile it around my neck. I think I sent a pic to dearest MT with the look. I think if you play around with the look, you'll find one that works for you :)

    7. Thank you. I will give it a try.

    8. Hello, ladies -- my refund isn't actually from the dentist, it's from the insurance company but the financial expert from my dentist helped me navigate this maze of insurance! I will definitely let you know which scarf I end up with. Meanwhile I have received my cashmere pieces and am wearing the cardigan right now! :-)
      Much aloha,
      Fifi

  9. Dearest Mai Tai,

What a great idea! I am twins with you and Jane on the MP and ZP and will try this new look this evening. As Trudye and Jerrine, I will also go through my scarves to find other pairing possibilities. It is so nice to discover other ways of knotting.:-)

Love the photographs of the marina. We have a similar one near our home.
Wishing you a great remaining week. Warmest hugs, Manuela xx

    1. Dear Manuela,

I am not sure if they do, but you could go to their website 'thelaundress.com' and send customer service a note. There is nothing on their website stating if they ship outside of the United States. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It's worth a try!

  16. Dear MaiTai, dear Ladys dans Le Salon, after a very busy start in the new year, I can now relax and take care of my scarves! I really love your new suggestion and I found immediately two pairs to stick together. Above all I think it's a wonderful possibility to combine a non-Hermés-scarf with an H. The none-H in the inner circle and the H outside! I'm really excited! Best wishes Claudia
