Now to the post!

While we are waiting for our third lockdown to come to an end, anything that is new provides excitement, no matter how small. Just before the start of this latest confinement, I had a hairdresser appointment and as I hurried past shop windows on my way back home, a sky blue sweater caught my eye. It had to be a quick purchase, as it was getting dangerously close to the 7pm curfew! So glad I did, as I had so much fun pairing it with my favorite spring scarves.

A narrow two-way street in a neighboring village. I always hope that no one comes the other way..

Shades of blue: with a Les Plaisirs du Froid 90 scarf in the basic bias fold.  Also by Hermes: Clic Clac H bracelet in Bleu Indiens

Les Plaisirs du Froid as above, this time in a Camelia knot

Cent Plis de Miao scarf in a cowboy knot. Usually, the purple border dominates but this time the turquoise and blue accents get echoed and highlighted by the sweater.

Fleurs d'Indiennes is another spring favorite and it is no surprise that it goes beautifully with blue, too.

Cent Plis de Miao in a Cowboy knot variation (ends tucked underneath the bib) which brings out some of the scarf's yellow center as well.

Fleurs d'Indiennes as above, this time in an Ondulation knot.

Stay safe and well and have a beautiful spring!

  1. You look scrumptious! Blue is at least one of your colors. And, those knots definitely show off the scarves to best advantage.

Now, here in North Carolina, we call that shade Carolina Blue, as it is the color of the skies over the Carolina’s on a sunny day. I have to admit - it’s really close!

    Love to all,
    Jerrine

  2. I truly wish I could see Carolina's sky on a sunny day one day, my dearest darling friend! Until then, various shades of Southern French skies will have to do. Much much love, Tai xx

  3. Dear MaiTai,
just amazing how good this colour suits you! I love the different variations with the different scarves. You can see right away the affect to the overall look. Fascinating! Now it scares me a bit that you write that the shawl rings will not be continued... What a pity! On the other hand, I suspect that you will surprise us again with new ideas?
Please stay healthy (also mentally, which is sometimes the more difficult task at the moment),
    liebe Grüße von Claudia

    1. Dearest Claudia, - thanks so much for the lovely comment. It's amazing how much a new color can do for one's wardrobe ... this little addition has been so uplifting, and in its newness very much in tune with spring. Also a perfect little helper to combat Corona fatigue! Please take care and stay healthy in mind and body, too. Ganz liebe Grüsse!

  4. Blue skies, fresh haircut and a new sweater all add up to help beat the lockdown blues! So happy to see these all in the mix for you!
You and blue are always a match made in heaven! Your last minute purchase of the new sweater was meant to be! It provides a perfect backdrop for showcasing your scarves and knotting skills.
Wishing you continued blue skies and a beautiful Spring to come! Mwahs,

  5. I love your sweater Mai Tai! Is it cashmere? And I love that you wear white jeans. Here in New England, it is still cold and I haven't worn white yet but when I do I will pair them with my new mint green cashmere tunic. That blue is the color of the sky on a perfect spring day!

    1. Many thanks, happy you love the sweater and pairing! The material is cashmere, but it's ultra light and therefor not too warm. Your new spring outfit sounds so fresh and beautiful, love the combination of white and mint green!

  6. Dearest Tai,

What a lovely blue colour your new sweater has! Matching your beautiful eyes and some of the scarves of your beautiful collection.
So sorry to hear the scarf rings will be discontinued and guess I’d better have a look to see if I should buy a few more.
Wishing you courage and good mood to deal with the third lockdown. Until now we have had 2 and I can hardly bear to think of a third one...
Take care and be safe, dearest Tai, and all the ofher ladies.
    Much love,
    Manuela

    1. Dearest Manuela, - thanks so much for the lovely words. Thank goodness we didn't know a year ago that we'd spent most of the coming 12 months in lockdown, and if someone would have told us, we wouldn't have believed it to be possible! Living in the countryside makes it more bearable and I do feel a sense of freedom on my long walks with the dogs. Hope we have all seen the last of our lockdowns and that things get better soon. Stay safe and healthy too, and take good care. Much love xx

    1. I don't know how I've missed your comment, Dearest! So glad you got both shots, well done. I'm due for my second one next week, can't wait. Luckily the new sweater didn't earn me a ticket, but it certainly was a close shave (but by no means the closest!). Can't bear the thought of another drought in California, hope you'll get a good rainfall soon. Much love xxx
PS, I'd love to take my car to Italy one day, although the roads scare me. Maybe Northern Italy?

  10. Dear MaiTai,
as Marie-Noelle wrote, I'm also missing some of my favorite blog-posts. I was really shocked, when I remarked the new direction! Of course I suppose there are compelling reasons, but for me it is so sad, because I also loved the older blogposts...
    I hope you are well!

  12. Dear Mai Tai
How could I subscribe to you again please? The subscription bit at the top says that you have deactivated subscriptions by Feedburner and Atom has some weird result with masses of script. Help! I have changed email addresses and would love to receive your blogposts again. Sarah

    1. Dear Sarah, - many thanks for alerting me to this problem, I had no idea! It must have happened when I deactivated some functionality in order to prevent old posts from being re-send when edited. This seems to also have blocked new subscriptions. It should be fixed now, but if any issue remains please let me known. Thanks so much for your loyal subscription, it means a lot! Have a wonderful weekend, MaiTai
