Black and brown, and a dash of blue

 So far, 2021 has been as uneventful as most of 2020, and with no trips or adventures to blog about (I can't even remember when I saw an FSH window display last), I am drawing wardrobe inspiration from my two little dachshunds.

The coloring of their silky soft fur goes well with the more muted colors of nature during the coldest time of the year, and my wardrobe and scarf choices are following suit. I've always loved wearing black and brown together, and I think that Wiener and Roley are living proof of what a harmonious combination it is.

Autumn colors

Most autumn posts in the past have been filled with rich and warm colors such as yellow, rust, browns, and gold, and probably featuring staple fall pieces such as my mustard-colored skirt and the Carré en Carré 90 scarf.

This year my autumn wardrobe consists of jewel colors and cool neutrals, which I partly blame on the offerings of two French clothing brands: Tara Jarmon's jewel-tone coats and sweaters are such a joyous distraction from the bizarreness of 2020, and Majestic Filatures' casual chic items are fabulously easy to wear and soft and beautiful to the touch. Since most of these additions are fairly new and therefore still available online,  I'm adding the links in the descriptions below (I am not affiliated with or sponsored by any of the brands mentioned in this post).

My Coupons Indiens 90 scarf dates back to 2008 and I was thrilled to find how beautifully it goes with my new pink coat . . . mixing old with new is my favorite way to put an outfit together. Scarf tied in a Sautoir knot. Hermes Kelly Double Tour bracelet in Rose Sakura.

The Coupons Indiens is a perfect example for the importance to pay attention to the diagonal axis of a scarf design: it is the part that you see most of, in the majority of scarf ties and knots.

The Coupons Indiens has two different diagonal axes, which result in two distinctly different versions when folded in the basic bias:

Two new scarves

I'm thrilled to feature my new grail scarf with the help of our little dachshunds, Wiener and Roley.

The new scarf is a re-issue of "Les Teckels" by Xavier de Poret from 1956. Ever since I've had my dachshunds, this design has been a grail of mine and I've been praying for a re-issue. To be honest,  I didn't hold much hope for the longest time, as the design is quite particular. However, in the last couple of years, I noticed that there was hardly a window display at Hermes' flagship store that didn't feature a dachshund in one way or another. It seems that someone at Hermes is quite fond of them! 

Naturally, I was overjoyed to see the design being part of this AW collection. In addition, it came out as a 70 scarf, which means that it has the new and fun, stripey hand-rolled hem. The only thing that appears strange is that the title was changed from the original "Les Teckels" (French for dachshunds) to "Les Bassets", particularly since the dachshund breed doesn't belong to the basset group. But since the name of the design isn't printed on the scarf, I don't care too much about it.

The scarf comes in so many beautiful colorways that I had a hard time choosing. But as I have two dachshunds, I took this as an excuse not to limit myself to just one scarf. In the end, I decided on CW09 (orange/sépia/tabac) and CW03 (marine/sépia/gold).

I very much enjoyed exploring the different ways to tie this scarf and to find out which knots show as much of the dachshunds as possible, and which would hide them completely (I think this is a beautiful scarf also for non-dachshund enthusiasts). And then of course there had to be knots that highlight the stripey hems! 

The Bib knot is perfect to showcase a few of the petits teckels at once. Also wearing Hermes' Plumes en Fete printed enamel bracelet in tropique and a lemon quartz Nudo ring by Pomellato. 

Camouflage scarf!  The dress has a very simple v-neck, and by tying the scarf in a Criss-Cross Bow knot it instantly looks more feminine and elegant. Other accessories: Hermes Marche de Savana printed enamel bangle and a Chanel Clutch on Chain in navy.
