August - visiting old friends

Did I just write August into the headline... how is this possible? Life seems to be moving on with crazy speed!

In a nostalgic mood I browsed some of the older sections of the blog and found some knots that I haven't worn for years. So for today's blog I thought it would be fun to tie my scarves in these knots.

I hardly dare say it, but the problem with leaving comments doesn't seem to have gone away. If anyone has any ideas of how to solve this please email me at: maitai@maitaicollection.com Otherwise please try, as it sometimes seems to work. Alternatively, you can email your comment to the above address and I'll publish it on your behalf. Sorry to mention all this yet again, but I always look forward to hearing from you and to our chats, and there were none to be had in the last post!

Wishing you all a very happy remaining summer, and hoping you enjoy the long days and mild evenings (or cosy winter evenings in other parts of the world!)

  1. Lovely to see some old friends come out to play! I thought about wearing a scarf last week and actually put it on and headed towards the door. Nope - just too hot and humid. Scarf had to go.
But, soon, babies, soon! And, I love pulling them out in the fall and becoming enamoured all over again. To me, autumn and H. scarves are synonymous. Anyone else silly like that?

Thanks for the lovely post, MT, and the inspiration. Can't wait for Fall!

    1. Me! Me! I'm silly like that! I love the cascade knot and twist wrap--two of my faves! But I'm not getting anywhere near a scarf anytime soon! We had a thunderstorm that coincided with my morning run--I got soaked and stood shivering under an awning for 20 minutes. Silver lining? I remembered what being chilly feels like and I'm looking forward to it!

I love these new colors and I love looking back and incorporating those looks into today. Thank you, MaiTai, for giving us a quick look back and your gorgeous inspiration!

      xoxo--Greta

    2. Just the thought of Autumn makes me happy, dearest Jerrine! H scarves, crisp air, rustling leaves, stews in the oven and a fire in the evening. Looking so forward to it Fall too! Keep cool in the meantime (nearly made a typo by hitting 'k' instead of 'l' in 'cool') Shows you the state of my brain (fried). Much love xxx

    3. Aww Greta, so nice to see you again! LOL re the silver lining of those 20 minutes, I'm quite envious of your thunderstorm! I'm combatting the heat by getting up super early in the summer, even though I'm NOT an early morning person. Just couldn't walk the dogs later in the day. Stay cool and hydrated xxxx

    4. I'm envious, too. Twenty minutes of shivering, Greta? Pure bliss! I can't even remember what it feels like to be cold or even halfway cool, but hope springs eternal, and I figure we're halfway through our summer here. Eventually, there will be toasty fires, warming comfort food and scarves draped around necks with wild abandon. In the meantime, MT, take comfort in the fact that the daily exercise regimen requires rising very early for me, too. Ugh! Much love to you both.

  2. That’s the beauty of these scarves- pulling them out after a long time and feeling joy- the designs, the colours and the endless ways to wear them and add a little twist to any outfit. So happy to see you play with some old friends, going back to knots that have been “forgotten”. Thanks for your neverending inspiration and your beautiful glimpses of southern France nature. And hooray if the comment section works! Enjoy August and the anticipation of fall,
    Katja

    Dearest Mai Tai,

So happy to see you tying your scarves in beautiful knots again. The high temperatures in Europe have prevented me from wearing scarves in the last month but now I feel like giving it a try sgain.
It’s always a pleasure to see you and your photographs which I very much enjoy. Have a great week ahead my dear friend. Much love, Manuela

    1. Thanks so much for persevering and emailing me your comment, my dearest Manuela! Very glad to hear that temperatures have come down a little. At this point in summer, I begin to anticipate the joys that come with the months ending with 'er'. Until then, chin-chin to August and the lovely alfresco moments that come with it! Much love xx

  4. :-) Dear MaiTai,
it's too hot for silk scarves and knots right now... Maybe as a head band or a pony tail holder. But nothing around my neck at this moment in time.
    You look gorgeous!
And your Rubis colored Picotin is something I wouldn't mind using either.
    Have a very HAPPY week!
    Claudia :-)

Thank You dear MaiTai for another lovely post! So nice to revisit older posts…..we somehow see them with “fresh eyes” and new inspiration!…I love that. In this hot/humid weather I turn to Gavroche and Twilly ideas especially....for head/hair, on bags, as a bracelet.....Thank you for inspiration to be beautiful, appreciate beauty in my life everyday. 1. Hello Nanette, - my Canon is a G16. The outdoor pics are taken with an iPhone 7. Hope that helps.

  7. Everything old is new again, as the saying goes! Looking lovely as ever in the 2.0 version of your reboot!
Always an inspiration, darling, but I cannot be seduced into knotting anything around my neck until probably November when our hottest months have past. Until then I will be content with watching you do it best!

    1. Aww...hope the heat has subsided by now, darling Trudye, at least a little bit! It's been a really tough summer, we've been dragged through record temperatures and 'regular' heatwaves, with practically no let off inbetween. Praying it's been an exception, and not the 'new normal'. Stay cool and have a beautiful Indian Summer! Mwahs xxx
