Shopping for Milo!

Ever since my little dachshund Milo came into my life, I've been asked if a dog accessory line will be added to the shop. As much fun as that would be, the many different sizes and shapes that our four-legged friends come in would make it logistically quite a complicated addition (at least for the moment!). So I thought I'd share my favorite finds on the blog instead.

The beautiful items in this post caught my eye years ago, before even thinking of having a dog. When I told the manufacturer that their lovely creations will be featured on the blog, they offered to apply a 20% discount for my dog or cat owner readers (details at the bottom of the post). I am so excited to be able to pass this on, thanks so much again Lord Lou!

I only wish their beautiful pet furniture range would come in human sizes too.

Handing over to Milo:

The size is perfect, and there is still room for me to grow!

But wait... Mum says there is more!

A blanket!

Perfect for hiding

and snoozing

When I got up, Mum said she's got one last thing to show me.

More??? I am already quite happy with what I got!

Ok, ok, I want to know... what could it be!!

Mum explained that winter is coming (not quite sure what 'winter' means!) and that the 'Tom' cushion will keep me very warm and cosy.

Mum is right of course, only that I don't think I'll wait for winter!

Love you Mum!

And because my Mum has a blog and Christmas is coming, Lord Lou offers all of Mum's readers a 20% discount on their pet furniture range and dog and cat accessories.

To claim the discount, enter the following code into the 'coupon code' box during checkout: maitai16

  2. Gosh, Milo, how kind and considerate of you to help out hard-working Mum with her blog. But, heck, for lovely presents like these, I'd help out, too. For sure, you are one lucky little pup, but since Mum is so besotted with you, if you play your cards right, you'll probably end up with a whole house full of furniture.

Your new bed is quite lovely and oh, so French, but what I'm really envious of is that luscious Tom cushion. I want one . . . for my own people-sized bed. Do you think you could put in a good word with the company?

Keep up the good work, precious pup. You're training Mum very well so far.

A kiss on your adorable nose,
    Aunt Jerrine

P.S. - Will you share your cosy new bed with the beautiful Chips? Bet not!

    2. But, of course, Rita. I'm of the mindset that if you have children, you spoil them a little, but if you have pets, you go all out!

And, yes, my dearly departed Lily trained me well - had me wrapped around her pretty little grey paw from day one. The house belonged to Lily. I was only a tenant (and the cleaning lady)!

      Love to you,
      Jerrine

    1. Hi Jayne,

I was thinking the same when I first saw Milo's new bed.... It would be perfect for my studio, if it were human-sized. dearest Milo is very lucky to enjoy such stylish furniture and rest of his goodies :-)

  12. You are a gifted photographer, dear MT, and Milo is a natural model. This post gave me a big smile from the inside out. Thank you so much (and for the discount too -- my Willieman needs one of those winter cozies)!

    1. He definitely needs one, Fifi. He might even share it with you. I think that furry cushion is a great idea, though, especially for older pets (of course, Willieman is nothing but a pup himself!)

They'd be great for older Swans, too. I want one; I need one.

      Hugs to you and W,

    2. Oh, Jerrine, what a good idea to buy one for puppy, one for self! Willieman and I have been through the ringer with his recent tumor surgery, but all is well. He gets the stitches out Thursday, and the pathology report came back clean. Yay! Warm blankies for everyone!
      Much aloha,

    4. Awwww, poor Willieman; poor Mama Fifi. I'm so happy to hear that he's fine.

Was it a Mast (sp?) tumor by any chance? A very good friend's pug just went through the same thing with the exact same results. She was told that pugs are very susceptible to this kind of tumor.

So glad it all turned out well.

      Love to you both,
      Jerrine

    5. Thanks, sweet Trudye! Jerrine, it sure was a mast cell tumor. I had no idea pugs were susceptible before this experience. Boxers too, apparently. I'm glad your friend's pug is doing well. If you catch them early (at Grade 1) there's a much better chance that surgery will take care of the problem.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Swans who celebrate this holiday! My bro, sis, and I are dining out at a nice Italian restaurant downtown. No muss, no fuss, just cucina delicioso! Much aloha to all --

  13. Dearest Milo’s Mummy,

You bought fantastic goodies for your four legs son ! Very happy to see that you are as besotted as I and Aunt Jerrine are! Lucky Milo, and lucky you, this is just unconditional love.

It doesn’t exist anymore but remember, until 2014, at the fourth floor of Harrods there was the Pet Kingdom, I didn’t caution the fact they were selling all kinds of animals including exotic ones like lions, elephants and alligators (incredible isn’t it? very British…) but there was such an exciting choice of royal beds, cushions, crazy collars for our pets…

You found the same spirit with Lord Lou, thanks for sharing, I’m sure that Newton the Rocket and his older sister would love to have a faux fur cushion under the Christmas tree!
    xx Catherine

    1. Rocketman definitely needs that fur cushion, Catherine. Will he share, or will you need to buy another for sis?

And, hopefully, the Christmas tree will survive the Rocket! :<)

    2. Ma très chère Jerrine,
I definitely will have to order two cushions! Concerning the Christmas tree I had to do without last year (I had to hang up everything to the living room's ceiling!!!!), I feel ready to fight this time, even if I already know who is going to win... Let me buy some unbreakable Christmas decorations!
      Love,
      C.

      Delete
    3. Unbreakable Christmas tree decorations - good plan, C. We used to do that when I was growing up. Mom would use the kid-proof, dog-proof, cat-proof ornaments on the tree and suspend most of the fragile heirloom ones from the ceiling on varying lengths of invisible fishing line. It was always quite beautiful.

She did threaten to put a barbed wire fence around the tree one year, though, after we found a rather large fur "ornament" hanging from a branch near the top. One of our cats found a tree just too irresistible.

Of course, less than a minute later, the tree tumbled to the ground. Many ornaments smashed; cat fine.

      Good luck,
      Jerrine

PS - Sorry about calling you a cheri instead of a chere. My French is deplorable!

      Delete
    4. We just had that discussion about breakable ornaments, considering that it'll only be our second dog attended Christmas- and last year's little fence will only provoke a long-distance jump! Plus, no sweets on the tree this year (DH insists to have them high up!) as little Miss is as addicted to chocolate as mom (but not allowed to have it). Maybe a beautiful sofa such as Milo's would convince her to lie still and adore the tree from a safe distance? I'm sure Milo loves his new acquisition- he and the furniture are a match made in heaven - what a lucky guy!
Good luck to all swans struggling with trees and pets (or toddlers:)

    5. cheri, a barbed wire fence around the tree, the fur "ornament" hanging...
Jerrine, I love your style and I am laughing in my bed trying not to wake up DH ;-)
      Lol, C.

    6. You swans crack me up! Your mom was a genius, Jerrine! I'll bet the ceiling looked magical. Catherine, all your beloveds need a cushy cushion. Katja, we both know it will take more than a beautiful sofa to make little Miss lie still when chocolate is at stake. Why do they love what is so bad for them? (For that matter, why do we?)
Much aloha and trumpeting swan noises,

  19. Precious! Just precious! Because Lily likes to treat her bed as a giant stuff toy, fine pet furnishings are out of the question for her. The Lord Lou line looks lovely. If I had a dog that wasn't such a busy little savage I might consider it -- although the fur beds look potentially Lily-proof.

  20. Hey Milo'
We think you are one posh pup and love your choice in picking such a lovely, elegant Mum!
Actually, we were going to offer a few pointers in how to wrap yourself around your Mum's little finger, but it looks as if you already have that skill;) The poses, the look...darling you have it down pat!
You have even convinced her to buy you an elegant bed and bedding already! Keep up the good work! We foresee a touch of cashmere and maybe even a H blanket in your future!
Let us know if you would like any tips or tricks. We would love to be of assistance!
Sending big furry hugs to you. Mwahs from two cool cats,😻😻
