Winter market - Capsule wardrobe #117

Just before Christmas, the local markets are dotted with stalls celebrating the outcome of the autumn olive harvest... producers present their new olives and the first oil pressings of the Year.

Chestnuts are another winter market staple

Beautiful bright green Picholine olives

Oysters from nearby Bouzigues are part of every market scene in our area

Olive bread made in a traditional artisan way, and of course delicious when dipped into fresh olive oil!

Without the coat - black in black capsule wardrobe

Capsule wardrobe pieces: black sweater, jeans and knitted waistcoat
Shoes: black ankle boots
Accessories: Hermès 'La Presentation du Cheveaux' 90 carré
Scarf tying method: basic slide with the scarf looped once around the neck, ends secured with a MaiTai Collection scarf ring in black horn (you can make a small double knot instead)

Walnuts from Grenoble..

some of which will be part of DS' stocking in a few days time

  1. Oh how I adore your market posts! The olives, oils, and chestnuts ( those earthy tasting little gems!) evoke the traditional tastes of the holiday. It seems that as I age, I want to hold onto the traditions and memories of Christmas past, and you're making some new and lovely ones for DS.
I wish you a holiday filled with joy et bonne année et bonne santé!

    1. So happy you enjoyed coming along to the market! Christmas in our house is a bit like Europe in a nutshell...because of the different backgrounds in our family, we have traditions for both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (some European countries celebrate on the 24th and others on the 25th). DS is certainly not complaining! ;-) Bonnes fêtes to you too!

  11. Thank you for the lovely seasonal post. Everything looks delicious including you dear Mai Tai.
The weather looks great where you are . Iam listening to howling winds swirling round the house as I take a break from cooking. Sorry I haven't been in touch this year .I have been busy since the birth of my seventh grandchild. ( not much time for knotting with tiny sticky fingers about! )
Happy Christmas to you and yours and continued success in 2014.

Wonderful photos. I adore this savoir-vivre. Olives, Maroni, the market and your beautiful family. Is the carre your mom's or was the mustard colored one hers? We also do a mix of traditions - old world and new world. I adore my lavender sachet. Frohe Weihnachten und liebe Grüsse.
