Capsule wardrobe #118 ~ Winter

Yesterday we cleared away the holiday decorations, and although everything seemed stark and bare at first, a wonderful feeling of a fresh and clean start set in very quickly.

Nature has shed any remaining signs of autumn, turning trees, bushes and vines into natural sculptures.

Capsule wardrobe pieces: waxed black jeans/checked woollen trousers and black sweater
Accessories: Hermès 'Vif Argent' Gavroche/pocket square, Clic H bracelet in marron glacé and Birkin in gris tourterelle.

Shoes: top row with the jeans version, bottom row with the checked trousers

As above, only with jeans instead of checked woollen trousers

  1. Dear MaiTai, The two loop method is such a brilliant way of using a gavroche! I have a Circuit 24 Faubourg in this size and have always wondered how I could show more of the design when wearing it and your guide has shown me how - problem solved, many thanks! Kindest Regards, Jo.

  9. Dear MaiTai,

Ms Gris is oh so lovely! Is she 30 or 35?

You have a divine eye for creating a pleasing aesthetic. I llok up to you as my style role model. What sizes in H classics like Birkin, Kelly, Bolide would you recommend to a slender petite 5’3” that wears heels up to 3 inches? Though I have a boyish body type, my style preferences are non sporty. I aspire to look refined yet effortless - quiet luxury. Which H style and size would be the most becoming for me? Your advise would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Thank you for the kind compliment :-) Ms Gris T is a 35.

Re your question, I would go for the style you love most, the one which makes your heart beat faster! Those you mentioned are all beautiful and fabulous, so whichever fits your needs and lifestyle best, is the right one for you. Re size, it depends how much you want to carry and if you generally prefer small/medium/oversized bags. You could ask yourself each time you reach for a bag which H bag you’d want to go with your outfit instead. Over time, it might help you establish which one is meant to be yours!

  11. Dearest MaiTai,

Oh my, knock us out w/ a feather! Congrats on lovely powdery soft Ms. Gris Tourterelle--she is sooooo you.

My favorite accessory though, is Ms.Minky in taupe/argent. I especially love how you've shown us how to jazz up a s/s sweater, and how to dress up/coordinate our handbags w/ just one EZ little Minky.

Can't wait to see all of Minky's new siblings.

    more more more Minky!!!

    much love,
    sammie

  12. Bring on the fur! What serene colours here, taupe and greige. I agree with Sammie, in that effect is soft and powdery. Ms. Gris seems to be settling in nicely (she says, a bit green with envy ;)
Your winter landscape is lovely there. It's 17 degrees below zero here, and fur is de rigeur for this brutally cold weather! Yikes!
Thank you for always so generously sharing these images with us, and for all of your invaluable style tips.
Looking forward to more winter looks!

  13. Where I live it is traditional to leave up Christmas decorations until Jan. 6, or Twelfth Night, which is the official start of the Mardi Gras season. Unfortunately, being a grinch, I stripped our house of its holiday accessories the day after Christmas! I love a clean slate for the new year.

Your effortless fashion is, as always, an inspiration.
