  1. Utterly lovey, dearest Mai Tai! The Spring weather here in Philadelphia, has been cut shorter and shorter every year. We seem to plunge right into Summer, very quickly after the last breath of snow. I get a lot of use out of Cashmere Shawls at this time of the year, but I need to get one in more vibrant colours!
Your hyacinths are spectacular! (says the girl with the brown thumb)
    Have a stellar week!

    1. Our springs are relatively short too... for me anyways! It's already been too hot to sit in the sun on some days, but then comes a rainy day and spring makes a miraculous return. Hope there will be some more of these in Philadelphia too! PS. It's a lilac tree, but the extreme close up makes the blossoms look like hyacinths indeed!

    2. I warned you re: the brown thumb! We had gorgeous lilac bushes on the grounds where I grew up....my mother used them to make loveliest bouquets!

  4. The epitome of spring blossom-time chic! And if you ever DO add a pair of green sandals to your wardrobe, I vote for deploying them, some April day, with that gracefully casual first ensemble ....

Happy Earth Day, dearest MaiTai, and all you lovely Swans!

  5. Very difficult to dress with this capricious spring, but as usual you combined so nicely all the ensemble dear Mai Tai.
The mousseline changes and is so light and suits to your beauty.

    1. Thanks so much for the lovely words, Estrella. I've had both the jacket and the scarf for a long time, but never worn them together until now. It is always so satisfactory to find a new way with not so new items!

  10. Dearest MaiTai,

Your beautiful picture of the lilac bush takes me back many years ago. Growing up in New England, my mother had two huge lilac bushes outside the back door. Their lovely scent always reminds me of my mom. Thank you dearest MaiTai for this beautiful memory.

How pretty you look in your mousseline...love the color combinations! Simone xx

    1. Simone, I had exactly the same reaction. I was taken back home to childhood days and the fragrance of lilacs. For us, they heralded spring, which was slow coming to upstate New York, as well. My mother would cut armloads of them and in various hues of purple, lavender and white and put them all over the house. They drove my father crazy. He did not appreciate the fragrance!

MT, thank you for creating a lovely memory and, of course, for always looking so elegant and special.

Happy midweek to all the swans,
      Jerrine

    3. Dearest Simone and Jerrine, joining you in cherishing childhood memories of lilac bushes in the yard, and vases filled with their flowers around the house. Only back then they seemed to be in flower forever, whereas now their season comes and goes in the blink of an eye!

  12. Chere Mai Tai--
Your lilacs are beautiful--they don't grow here in Alabama, but we had them in our yard in Utah growing up. What a wonderful memory--thank you! As always, your pictures are exquisite and inspire me to do more exciting things with my wardrobe.

    1. Aww dear Greta, our childhood memory club is growing! There are quite a few plants which don't grow well were we live now, but I am grateful for each that does.

  13. Dear MaiTai,
What a lovely wardrobe, and the mousseline is perfect this time of year. I love the scent of lilacs even more than roses, I think. Their season is so brief, alas. Spring in Seattle this year is wacky. Earlier this week it was almost summer; today it is almost winter! You look lovely and it's so clever of you to pair the mousseline with a warmer pink-toned jacket. I would not have guessed it would work so well! Lovely week to all the elegant Swans --
    Much aloha,

    1. Lilac scent really is spring personified, and you are right, it's short season makes it all the more precious. Our weather is behaving capriciously too.. after a good start, spring regressed to winter and then jumped back to summer again...and then repeat!

  14. Dear Mai Tai,
I do wonder - who is inspired by whom? The picture and the design of the scarf are such a perfect match, it almost looks like Hermes got their ideas from you ;-) Can't wait to see lilacs opening their blossoms around here, just a few more warm days to go. And I definitely vote for green sandals to go with this beautiful mousseline piece....I'm very curious to see all the swans in their green outfits!
Of course, I also LOVE the gold necklaces - I really like that colour on you, dear MaiTai. What a coup!
    Happy spring (or autumn) days,

  15. After trudging along in downtown Chicago today, where it was windy and so cold we actually had snow flurries, I can't tell you how delighted I was to come home and see your beautiful post. The lilacs are sumptious! I love that particular mousseline for spring and you've paired it so well!
