Capsule wardrobe #17 and Snowball knot how-to

Even though the mornings have now a promise of autumn in the air, we are back to summery temperatures by midday. So still enjoying wearing white, but adding some warm and dark colors, to go with the change of atmosphere as summer is drawing towards it's end. The white scarf ties the outfit together, no matter which color the top, while the rest of the accessories stay in one color family, hereby framing the entire look.

Capsules: beige/purple tank top and white jeans
Shoes: dark brown suede loafers
Accessories: Châines et Gourmettes 70 Carré, Ebene Kelly and horn bracelet
Scarf tying method: Snowball knot
Scarf ring: MT Collection, black moyenne

  10. I feel the same about the SS vs AW wardrobe, dear Trudye, and not just because of having the whole scarf drawer to play with! Have fun with the snowball knot, and don’t let that hurricane come anywhere near you x

Have a lovely time playing with the knot, dear SMR. Joining you in the prayers for cooler weather..looks as though quite a few of us are longing for a cool autumn breeze to come!

  15. I LOVE this snowball demo. Must get one of those metal scarf whatsies pronto. How'd you learn all these techniques? I think this is my favourite knot.

  16. Many thanks, dear sushi queen, SheilaG and Faux Fuchsia, your lovely comments made my day x

Hope you had fun playing with your scarves and snowballs, dear sushi queen ;-)

It's still 35 Celcius chez toi, Sheila!? Keep cool, my dear. You could try the knot with your lovely AuCdlV mousse instead :-)

The scarf is called 'Chaînes et Gourmettes' dear FF, and it's from AW 2008.. if you still see it around, grab it quick! As for the knot, I'm directed by the same place that directs your baking, lol! Plus a mirror and some playtime x

  19. Hi Maitai,

What scarf would you recommend to wear with a white top with horizontal blue stripes? And how would you tie it?

    Thanks

  20. Thank you DD.. and you have already the perfect scarves for it! :D

Hello A, I would recommend scarves with very simple graphic patterns, and would tie them in a very clean and simple knot, like a double knot, perhaps leaving one end short and the other long. Or use a scarf ring, and go for the basic slide or criss cross knot. Something like the second photo in this link (blue shirt, and black/white/blue Ex-libris Gavroche) http://scarfrings.blogspot.com/2010/06/moyen-size-with-gavroches.html
    Hope this helps.

  21. Thanks for the advice and link, all the outfits on that page look incredible - a scarf tied at the side of my neck is one of my favourite ties!

I think I'll purchase a red scarf with white geometric shapes to wear with my blue & white striped top - I really value your opinion, what do you think?

  22. Thank you for the compliments, and glad you found the info useful. Red would be a lovely choice, and one of the all time classic looks in combination with white and blue!

  23. I'm on the hunt for a red scarf to complete the classic outfit - maybe you could include the red, white & blue look in a future edition of your amazing wardrobe capsule sections?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good luck with the hunt! There are not many blue pieces in my capsule wardrobe, but maybe you like the classic blue/white/red post I've done a while ago http://www.maitaispicturebook.com/2009/03/vue-du-carosse-de-la-galere-la-reale.html

  25. Thank you for the link to your red, white and blue outfit - its absolutely stunning! The scarf looks incredible and accentuates the outfit to perfection, it is a true classic! More more more please!

  26. Thank you, dear casiewbao. I hope it worked and that you are having fun with it!

You are very welcome, A. Happy you liked the look, and I promise more will come. How is it going with your red scarf, have you had any luck in finding it yet?

  27. Not had much time to search for a red scarf, MT, busy at work etc. I live in the North West of England so first hand access to H scarves is a little limited, the only scarf shop we have in my town is Tie Rack which although nice is no comparison to a H boutique! I shall have to look on the Internet, which is such a saviour - after all without it I wouldn't be able to marvel at your gorgeously chic outfits. Thank You Maitai & Thank You Internet! I love your latest posting - the navy blazer challenge - my challenge next please! Hugs <3!
