Paris capsule revisited ~ three black summer looks and capsule wardrobe #13

I've been caught up this weekend, with too many things to do, and did not have time to take any new photos. Instead of posting nothing, I've transferred my Paris travel wardrobe from last summer into style sheets.

I have had the top and the trousers for ages, both are reliable and much loved capsule pieces. The simplicity of the cut and colour makes this a timeless combination, and a great canvas for adding accessories.

It also makes a great travel wardrobe, as small changes in the choice of accessories create very different looks. The sleeveless top was saving the day, as it was very hot, and because of the overall 'all black', the combination was dressy enough for a city trip, while being easy and comfortable at the same time.

1. Lift pendant in black laquer/horn, and 'Fantaisies Indiennes' GM mousse, worn in the basic bias fold
2. With Lena horn necklance, ebene Kelly, and Elephants and Torana enamels
3. With a 70 Vintage Carré worn as a belt, secured with a Gavroche ring. Lift horn earrings, and Elephants enamel

Today wearing ~ Coaching

With all the glorious lavender in full swing, and still moderate temperatures, today's scarf was an obvious pick.. it had to be Coaching, with it's beautiful shades of mauve, purples and blues. For the rest of the wardrobe, following the color scheme of the scarf, while choosing light and airy cotton and jersey tops, and a simple pair of jeans.

In the kitchen

This was meant to be a recipe post, to share one of my favorite summer deserts, a Meringue topped with cream and summer berries, called Pavlova.

Whereas I have snaps of the making of the meringue, I never managed to take a pic of the finished product. It needs to be assembled right before bringing it to the table, and by the time we have desert, it is always dark outside, so no pics. I will try and make it as a lunch desert one day soon, and post a 'beauty shot' along with the full recipe then.

In the meantime, here some pics of last night, gathering with friends in the kitchen for a chat and a glass of bubbly, while shaping the meringue into a disc.

Photo credit: my friend A. Thank you, dear xx

The disc turned out well, and is coming on nicely in the oven

The style 'ingredients'. I've been wearing a different black shirt and pair of jeans from the capsule pieces, but since the clothes in the series are meant to be generic, I thought to include a stylesheet too.

FSH update

Last week at FSH, a beautiful, new window display greeted every lover of neutrals. The scarves fluttering from the rooftop were still the 'Mosaïque au 24' (I am amazed how long they lasted, the first time I saw them was end of April), and the panels which hide the construction site were unchanged too. The beautiful window arrangement in creams, whites and browns were making more than up for it though! The 'Kelly in Perles' framed by creme starfish shapes made a fabulous centrepiece, while the bi-material Plume, Kelly (a 50cm) and JPGII, and the all white Birkin and Constances looked so summery, cool and fresh.

It was only back home, when I realised how much FSH's colour scheme influenced the choice of macaroons I brought back for DH and DS!

But not leaving FSH yet, as something made me stop in my tracks when walking past the shelves in the bag department.. Of course, I should have walked straight past, but instead, felt an irresistible urge to try on the beautiful 37 Bolide in Gris Tourterelle Clemence I saw. Needless to say, that I fell in love with her straightaway, and now you all know what I dream about at night, lol!

The sad part of this FSH update is, that there are no more LFASDV in the black CW.

PS. Who can spot the capsule wardrobe pieces ;-)

Capsule wardrobe #12

Summery purple & yellow

The natural fiber ribbon display chez Ultramod's, is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a great source of inspiration. Seeing so many colors together, allows you to try out endless color combinations in a fun and easy way..

.. but can also remind you of combinations previously loved. While zooming in on the purple, lilac, yellow and gold

... I remembered an outfit I wore in early spring (to see the full post, please click on the thumbnail below)

.. and felt like adapting it for summer, by changing the beige/grey cotton pants for a crisp pair of white jeans, and knotting the Gavroche into a cool and breezy cowboy knot. Shoes and the rest of the accessories in a cool, dark brown, to frame the look and tie all elements together.

Capsules: purple sweater, white jeans
Shoes: suede loafers
Inspiration: ribbon counter at Ultramod's
Accessories: Brazil II Gavroche in a cowboy knot, Kelly 32 in Ebene, Horn cuff MT (to be launched soon), Silver rings as usual
Scarf tying method: Fold scarf into a triangle, place around neck 'bib style, knot both ends into a double knot behind your neck.
