Spring postcard from Paris

Paris in springtime can be anything.. wintery and cold, or mild and warm. If it's a beautiful day, there is no better way to start it than having breakfast outside. The 'Deux Magots' is a favorite, and it's right next door to the Café de Flore... sometimes it's hard to decide which one!

On cooler days, Ladurée in the Rue Bonaparte is a perfect spot for a breakfast indoors. It is calm and beautiful, and hardly ever crowded.

The main tea salon has high glass ceilings and is flooded with light. It is decorated with hand-painted wall paper, Chinese lacquered cabinets and colonial style furniture, and the breakfast choices are laid out in the center of the room on silver hotel trays and tiered stands. In addition, you can order anything from the patisserie counter by the entrance.

Paris' Apple store is located in a former Italian private bank, with many of the original features still intact.

The accessories are in the former vault (which is where I headed, since I left my charger at home)

It certainly is one of the most elegant Apple stores I've been to, and with the clientele to match!

Capsule wardrobe #125 - early spring

Capsule wardrobe pieces: light beige cotton trousers and grey v-neck sweater (my 10 EUR market find from a couple years ago, and still in good shape!)
Shoes: two-tone ballet flats
Accessories: Hermès 'L'Instruction du Roy' cashmere GM, Clic H enamel bracelet in marron glacé, and Picotin in etoupe

Last week, the temperatures went up to glorious and summery 25 degrees, but then a cold mistral came, followed by clouds and rain. The above look can easily be adapted to more wintery spring days, by simply replacing the light colored trousers and shoes with darker ones:

Capsule wardrobe pieces: dark camel corduroy trousers and grey v-neck sweater
Shoes: dark brown boots
Accessories: as above

I'll be away for a few days, and look forward to catching up with you soon.

Hope everyone had a wonderful start into spring!

Reader's style challenge - spring capsule wardrobe variations

Reader's style challenge submitted by ilsa via blog comment:

As I have told you my “coup de foudre” for this SS was “Au coeur de la vie” ... at the end it was  [the] rose vif/orange/violet that I brought home... (Ref. H002235S 09)

So I wonder if you can play you magic again and suggest some capsule combinations...

As always thanks in advance for your kindness.

Regards from Barcelona

Congratulations on your beautiful new scarf, dear ilsa, and many thanks for the challenge! The CW you chose is amazingly versatile, as it consists of many different colors... warm yellow and orange, rose, pink, sky blue, ecru and beige, in addition to strong and cool fuchsia and turquoise tones, and warm browns and reds.

This gives many options, especially since the colors are in the warm and cool spectrum (a good source for finding tops in the exact right shade is Kettlewell Colours, where many of the colored capsule pieces featured below are from). My suggestions are of course limited to my own wardrobe, but I hope they give an idea on the many different ways to go.

#1 picking on the warm pastels

#2 - bringing out the warm yellow and mustard shades

#3 - creating a neutral base. The scarf is 'tied in' by a pop of color from the bracelet and shoes

#4 - picking up on the turquoise and teal details, and teaming with summery and fresh accents

#5 - similar to 3, only focusing on the scarf's blue/grey/white elements as the neutral base

#6 - Black, pink and ecru
