Scarf and the city

It's been a while and I hope everyone has had a wonderful end of the month. In a few days, the summer holidays will be over here in France, and school routine will replace the long and lazy summer days. Having been North in the last ten days, it feels like I've already climatised a bit for the change to come.

Here a few snaps of my visit Düsseldorf, one of my favourite cities in Germany. Love the harbour area with its bustling restaurants and art galleries, and fabulous mix of old and new architecture. Since 2000, a stunning line of three Frank Gehry buildings have become a new land mark, all of them linked together by elements of their outer building material. The most spectacular one looks as if doused with liquid silver, a truly amazing sight.

Wearing all blue, and since I knew I would spent most of the day walking, opted for a pair of leather and suede sneakers, tying it all together with the help of the light and blue accents of the 'Coaching' 70 Carré.

Missed you all, and it is nice to be back. Have a great week ahead everyone! xx

Aquitaine and Pointu joys

Last week, we visited friends who live in the beautiful Aquitaine region, in south-western France. The climate there is very different from where we are, it is cooler and greener than chez nous. Perfect conditions for hydrangeas, which I absolutely love, but can't have at home as they would get blasted in the summer heat. Aren't they fabulous?

We had scarf wearing temperatures the whole time, a wonderful extra bonus. Hooked on black&white for the moment, teaming up with a 'Les Clés' Pointu in the basic slide knot, and a moyenne scarf ring in black.

We had a happy time and kicked off the evenings with a game of croquet and an aperitif..

And since everyone tells me they love the scarf rings, I allow myself to join in. I absolutely adore the way it gives structure to a Pointu. So far, I have only one Pointu, as I always found it hard to give body to it, but love the way it looks with the basic slide, and without any re-tying it stayed like this all day. Might have to go and re-investigate the AW Pointu collection...

Earlier that day, we took a trip to the Pyrénées, and had a wonderful picnic lunch by a wild stream..

My computer will have a much deserved rest coming up, as I am going to 'partir en vacances'..

Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful summer, and looking forward to seeing you again at the end of the month! xx

Fast food à la Paris and the rue du Mail

When I go to Paris by myself, it is usually for a day trip, which means that time is luxury. Economizing on the lunch hour is a great way to save time..

I nearly caved in when walking past this charming little restaurant near the Bourse, the outdoor tables waiting for customers, laid with crisp, white tablecloths and starched napkins. A place DH and I would have stopped for lunch, if we were in the city of lights together..

..but I had plenty of errands to run, and so on I went. After a while of course, I began to feel a pang of hunger, which was when this beautiful, old fashioned boulangerie came to my rescue..

They had a few tables outside on the pavement, where customers could eat, and inside a wonderful selection of artisan bread, made into delicious sandwiches. Drinks, salads and the most scrumptions looking patisseries rounded up the offer.

A short time later, I was ready to go, checking out the beautiful fabric shops in the nearby Rue du Mail.. among them Pierre Frey, Brunschwig et Fils and one of my favorites, Chelsea Textiles, who make beautiful hand embroidered curtains, cushios and upholstery fabrics. Here is one of their floral cushions, which I bought years ago in their charming little London shop on Walton street

Capsule wardrobe #16 ~ encore summer black and Twilly wrap how-to

Maybe, it's because the days are getting shorter, or maybe it's because of the recent black&white post.. today I reached for black again, this time teaming it with beige and cream capsule pieces. At the end of the post also a how-to video for the new Twilly wrap knot, which I very much like, as it gives great volume and structure.

Capsules: beige jacket, cream tank top and beige 3/4 length jeans
Shoes: black suede ballet flats
Accessories: En Désordre Twilly, black Birkin and black clic enamel bracelet
Scarf tying method: Twilly wrap
Scarf ring: MaiTai Collection, Classique Petite in black horn

Twilly wrap
A great way to wear your Twilly in what appears to be simply a double knot. The Twilly wrap however, gives the knot body while shortning the ends, for a neat and polished look.

Today wearing ~ Head scarf

H-ing Up a life vest with a 70 Carré (Jeu de Omnibus et Dames Blanches) tied as a head scarf and my Farandole necklace, ready for a 12 km canoeing trip through the breathtakingly beautiful Gorges de Herault.

Luckily the canoe did not keel over, and I managed to get back home with a dry scarf..

DS and friends playing with baby fish after we had our picnic lunch..

I have to admit that would I not have an adventurous, almost ten year old boy, I probably would have never set a foot near a canoe. But I am glad I did, and it was a happy, fun and exhausting (!) day we all enjoyed very much.

On another note, some computer problems still persist, I had a few emails coming back to me as undelivered. So please don't think I don't answer your lovely emails, dear V.H. (it's been a while, but I loved the fur pics you have sent me), K.O. (I could not reply to you re the LF), T.K. (you were so sweet to write, thank you) and S.L. (thank you for your order)

I'll be away for a couple of days, but will answer comments when back early next week. Have a great weekend everyone!

H it Up ~ Black Birkin as a summer bag?

Yesterday, I chatted with a couple of lovely ladies about bag styles/leathers/colours, always a fun topic to discuss. My dear friend M was inquiring if I ever wear my black Birkin during summer, as she has not seen it in any recent pics. And she is right, I have not reached for it much, as a big black leather bag felt a bit too overwhelming to carry in the hot temperatures we had recently. Inspired by the lovely M, I took Ms Birkin out today, teaming her up with summery white, and a little bit more black. Thank you, darling M, for the inspiration!

H-ing it Up 3/4 length white trousers and a black tank (almost capsule pieces) with a Vif Argent Gavroche in a simple loop knot, black clic bracelet and black Birkin. Also wearing black suede ballet flats and mesh silver bracelet.
Scarf ring: MaiTai Collection (honey moyenne)
Scarf tying method: Simple loop. Click here for a how-to

PS. By mistake, I have deleted this post, and all the comments that were attached to it. I am so very sorry, dear ladies. I did have the chance to read them when they came in, and as always you have brought happiness and sunshine with your lovely words. Thank you all, and sorry for not being able to come back individually to you this time.

PPS. Also apologising to all email subscribers. After deleting this entry, I reposted it, which means that you are probably going to receive it again. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
